Once a long time ago there was a thief. His father had trained him to be a thief. He was a really good thief because he listened to everything his father taught him about stealing. One thing his father told him was this: "Never listen to anything a saint says. Don't even listen to a single word out of the mouth of a saint. If you hear what saints say, you will not be able to be a thief." He was the best thief around.
A Sikh of Guru Amar Das ji named Bhai Sachan Sach was very devoted to the Guru. Outside of Goindwal there was a crazy woman who people thought was possessed by demons. Even though this woman had attacked Bhai Sachan Sach, the Guru told him, "Take my sandal, when she attacks you, simply touch her with it." Bhai Sachan Sach at first didn't want to, but he listened to his Guru.... then when he was in the jungle.... she attacked him....
During the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh there was a famous bandit stealing from people. The Maharaja offered "I will offer two villages to anyone who catches this robber alive." The bandit in return posted his own offer, "If anyone can catch me alive I will give them the throne of Lahore." Along came a brave Singh to battle with the bandit to stop his reign. Will the Singh win and be given the throne of Lahore?
The emperor Jahangir had heard rumors of Guru Hargobind and decided to pay him a visit. He found the Guru to be wise, friendly and brave. Once they were hunting together and a tiger jumped out to attack the emperor. All of his royal soldiers were afraid and didn't do anything. The Guru himself got off his horse and cut the tiger in half, saving the emperors life.
Bidhi Chand used to be a thief before he met Guru Hargobind. The Emperor, had intercepted two beautiful horses named Dilbagh and Gulbagh that were going to be given to the Guru. Bidhi Chand used his skills one more time to steal the Guru's horses back from the emperor and unite them with the Guru.
