Will you support SikhNet today?

You may have noticed someting new at the bottom of SikhNet News stories these days. In our ongoing effort to improve the quality of comments on the SikhNet News stories, we have begun trying out a completely new commenting system.

The new SikhNet News Commenting system is called Disqus (dis·cuss) It is all about changing the way people think about discussion on the web. At SikhNet we understand that it is the conversations and online communities that form on our pages and blogs that bring richness to the experience of SikhNet's content.

Our belief is that SikhNet's new Disqus commenting system, with its next-gen community management and social web integration, will help improve comments and discussions in many ways. One big way it will help is by allowing a team of comment moderator sevadars around the world to monitor comments to make sure they adhere to SikhNet's Comment Guidelines. (see below for the guidelines.)

Now you can control what you've written by tracking and managing your comments all in one place. You can also use your Disqus Profile to effortlessly follow and reply to what people are talking about, on SikhNet and elsewhere, as well as tracking commenters you admire.

Even if you are already registered here on SikhNet, when you first begin using using Disqus to leave comments, you will be required to create a Disqus Profile. After you have a Profile, Disqus will remember you for future comments. When you create your profile, Disqus will send you a confirmation email. You must click the link in the email before anyone can view your comments. You must be logged in to Disqus to post comments.

Here's What The New Commenting System Looks Like

Your Disqus Profile is not unique to SikhNet. You can learn more about your Disqus Profile here.

Users may flag a comment as inappropriate, in which case a SikhNet Comment Moderation Team member will review the comment and make a decision as to whether or not it adheres to the SikhNet Comment Guidelines.

SikhNet is committed to sharing and enhancing everyone’s Sikhi experience. We all together, as a part of Guru Panth, are responsible and accountable to generate and reflect the inspiration and upliftment of the essence and experience of Sikhi. The words we write and the viewpoints we share are part of that reflection.

Here are the SikhNet News Comment Guidelines to which you must adhere if you wish to comment on SikhNet news stories.

1. The comments section under each article on SikhNet is to be used reflect your perception or viewpoint on the subject or context of that article.

2. Please be succinct and stay on-topic. Limit your comment to the main subject and context of the article.

3. Please be empathetic and respectful of the writer’s as well as of other readers’ views. Please refrain from leaving any defamatory, intimidating, prejudicial or personal comments about others.

4. Do not use the News comment section for lengthy debates or discussions. That sort of discussion and debate belongs in the Discussion Forums.

5. Comments denigrating race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, ability, or gender will not be tolerated and those comments will be edited or removed, as they do not reflect Sikhi Spirit.
