Ravinder began her career as a teacher of chemistry, and a multi cultural/anti-racist advisor. She taught primary school with a specialisation in bi-lingualism. Ravinder's work in the voluntary sector has been vast and varied. She was president of the Vaisakhi Mela Committee 1992 - 1996 and serves as the Co-Chair of the Religions for Peace European Women of Faith Network. She is also a member of the Scott ish Joint committee on religious and Moral education representing the Sikh community.
