Listen to how people speak. You can find out about their nature by seeing how many times they say "I, me, mine". When someone uses more words like "we" and "you" and who talk about God, then that person is a Godly person.

The 33rd Pauri of Japji Sahib (Aakhan na Jor...) This pauri talks about people having no power. We have an illusion of the ego that makes us think that we are doing things, and creating things. Do you think about "I, me, mine", or do you think about "Thy, Thee, Thine".

This section ends by saying "Nanak Utam Neech Na Koi" - no one is higher or lower. Everyone is the same, But still we find ourselves revering someone as a saint, and giving them a lot of esteem. We get lost in the drama of personalities. This is also an illusion. Just remember this line, and treat everyone equally, regardless of what they can give you. Since no one has the power to give you anything except God, then there is no one to try to please. If you don't try to please anyone, then no one can put you in their pocket. Nobody can manipulate you, or control you, or buy you. YOU ARE SOVEREIGN.

When you live this way, you live in prayer, and that is the life of a spiritual person.
