This week at SikhNet we released our 6 part series on Normalizing Grief with AmarAtma Singh Khalsa, who expresses the central theme of this series as breaking the stigma of "emotion-phobia."

In this series, AmarAtma Singh Khalsa gives us the tools to move through the grief process effectively, either as a griever or as a supporter to someone in grief.

He explains that all of us experience grief in our life, but we all deal with it in different ways. For this reason, navigating grief can be one of our greatest challenges.

AmarAtma Singh speaks from a diverse background of experiences and studies over the last 20 years working with his own personal grief and working with grief professionally (he is a Board Certified Chaplain, Ordained Sikh Dharma Minister and Grief Coach) to explore the key components surrounding grief.

The mini-series is divided into 6 episodes, each one dedicated to a key topic — from our attitude to emotion as an individual and society, to the many myths that pervade our culture with regards to grief and how those myths or beliefs can actually limit our ability or the ability of others to support us in the process.

  • Episode 1: Webinar Replay & Introduction

  • Episode 2: Normalizing Emotions

  • Episode 3: Myths of Grief

  • Episode 4: Grief & Gurbani

  • Episode 5: Factors That Contribute to Grieving

  • Episode 6: What to Say to a Griever

The aim of this mini-series is to give people the opportunity to look at grief from an empowered perspective, and that in any situation of loss that people are facing or will face in the future, they will feel better equipped to go through the grief process with loving care.
