How your faith is helping you in lock-down is a BBC radio program which features short voice clips from members of various religions. Below is the text from the audio of a young Singh from London. Click here to listen to the relaxing recording.
Sat Sri Akal
My name is Guvinder Singh. I'm a practicing Sikh of the Akali order. I am also an MA scholar in the field of yoga and meditation. During the covid pandemic I have found particular comfort in Guru Nanak's teaching of 'Ik Ong Kar', that is 'The One Universal Harmony' from which it is believed we all arise, are animated in, and return to.
This tenant is of central focus in my own practice of yoga and meditation, especially in the reflection of the nature of non-self. Often in periods of lock-down, it is natural to feel trapped, distressed and isolated. Yet I have found great solace in the practice of the 'Mool Mantra' or 'Root Transformation of Mind' which I will share:
There is One Universal Harmony
Its identity realityIn this creative force of equanimity all emerges
Free from fear and hatred
Eternal in form
Unborn
And spontaneous
Through its compassion it dispels our darkness and brings us to light
So resonate!
It was, It is, and shall continue to be Truth, so Nanak resonates too.
