Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! My name is Christine. My last name is legally Udhwani, however I go by Christine Kaur because Kaur is what my last name should be. ;)

I am an investigative specialist for National General Insurance. I work as a claims adjuster in the fraud department for auto insurance. (I love fighting fraud in all areas of life!) I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and a minor in marketing and management from the University of Houston.

My experience and involvement in the Sikh Community include the following:

  • Vice President of the Sikh Center Gurudwara Committee in Houston TX (2012)
  • Appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice to do a presentation on Sikhism in front of the Harris County Police Department in Houston TX (2015)
  • I grew up going to Sikh Camps, conferences, retreats all around the nation and I used to attend and organize Gurbani meetings every weekend in Houston. My sangat and I would meet every weekend and start out be doing rehiras, kirtan, and have really great discussion on various topics within Sikhi/Gurbani
  • I used to participate in the Hemkunt Speech Competition every year. In the last year of my age eligibility I won 3rd place internationally. After age 25, I was appointed as the youth coordinator for the following international competitions and I was also a judge in 2013.

I come from a very diverse background. My mother and stepfather are Christians. My father is a Sikh and my stepmother is a Hindu. I grew up around many religions and was pulled in many different directions, but in the end my heart led me stay with Sikhi.

I currently write a blog called American Born Confused Sikh. It started out as a dating blog. My intention was to allow the single women of my community to laugh about these experiences and to let them know that they are not alone in this weird world of dating. Over time, it has evolved into writing about various topics within the community that everyone can relate to.
