The world is online during the lockdown and this affords plenty of opportunities to be creative and experimental. Never ones to miss out on a trending topic, Mata Sahib Kaur Educational Trust (MSKET) have released a brilliant social media video that ingeniously combines the 'Don't Rush' Challenge and Sikhism. The UK registered charity aims to promote the ethos and principles of Sikhism, and they clearly recognise that being part of a trending viral movement will help spread the word further.
The video involves youngsters aged between two to twelve years-old transitioning from their everyday garb to more traditional Sikhi attire. The little Singhs and Kaurs take immense pride in their bana (traditional spiritual clothing) and show the utmost respect to the religious and cultural items that cleverly act as a bridge for the super quick transformations. These makeovers happen to the backdrop of Dhadi Tarsem Singh Moranwali's rousing 'Akaal Hi Akaal Hai'. There is no doubt that the youngsters have put their own unique spin on the 'Don't Rush' Challenge.
The video (titled 'Khalsa Edition') sends the message that while the children are growing up in the west, they have not forgotten they are the sons and daughters of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji. You cannot deny that the cuteness levels are through the roof but there is something much more here - a beautiful and unabashed pride in Sikhi from such a tender age. Truly inspiring.
Well done to the youngsters for taking part in such a clever video and well done to MSKET for reminding us that technology and Sikhi can be harnessed together in a positive and motivational way.
