This month, the sound journey continues with our exploration of the six-volume collection Diamonds of Eternity: Gurbani Classics. In our second volume of the series we feature the world renowned raagi Bhai Gurmail Singh Ji, who enthralled the sangats at Gurdwara Santokhsar Sahib and Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar through the 70s and early 80s where he served as a Hazoori Raagi.
Bhai Gurmail Singh showed an interest in music and singing from an early age entering Sant Fateh Singh Sant Chanan Singh Sikh Missionary College at eleven where he met both Bhai Gurbachan Singh Ji and Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji. The three would form the Jatha which for over 50 years traveled the world allowing their kirtan to uplift and inspire audiences from England to Singapore.
It is our honor to feature the sweet meditative tones of Bhai Gurmail Singh in this volume and to continue to share the joy of these Gurbani Shabads which allows us all to access that sacred space within ourselves.
To preserve this legacy, countless hours were spent going through the cardboard boxes of cassettes from live recordings which had been stored away for almost 50 years, and were often unlabelled. This collection was then lovingly and beautifully restored for your enjoyment, and for future generations of Sikhs to experience the beauty of sangat past and present.
