In his life, Simran Jeet Singh has had the privilege of trying to live as a Sikh while also studying and writing about Sikhi. He grew up in a Sikh family in Texas and earned graduate degrees from Harvard and Columbia on Sikh history, with a focus on the Puratan Janamsakhi, the earliest accounts of Guru Nanak Sahib's life. Now, Simran has written a national bestseller on his experiences and learnings as a Sikh, entitled The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life (Penguin Random House, 2022).

In this session, Simran will reflect on his path in practicing, studying, and writing on Sikhi, including challenges he's faced and lessons he's learned along the way.
