Ludhiana Nov 22 - International folk artists and students of various universities of Poland and Punjabi folk artists put up a spectacular display of their respective folk traditions in the Punjab Multicultural Festival, Organized by Punjab Cultural Promotion Council and hosted by Ramgarhia Girls College on 7th Nov 2008. afternoon. 15 Polish folk artists led by their Director folk group Jedliniok Mr. Henryk Brzezicki were on the four day tour of Punjab. Counselor Mr. Artur P. Lompart, the senior official and Head of the Division of Culture and Education in the Embassy of Poland at New Delhi, also joined this International event as Guest of Honour.
Talking to the media The Polish Diplomat Mr. Lompart said Punjab has special place in hearts of Polish community. We are here in Punjab to strengthen friendship with Punjabi Community share common ideas, values traditions, cultures and International friendship. Punjab Multicultural festival is an incredible event allowing us to exchange common customs and traditions and it also shows that inter-cultural dialogues give the message of love, peace, joy and multiculturism.
Directed by PCPC Director Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina, the Punjab Multicultural festival was a showcase of Multicultures including the exotic display of Sikh-Martial Arts Gatka by Punjabi varsity students, Tabla/vadan by Tabla Maestro Mr. Deepinder Singh Mohalli, Semi-Classical Indian Dance by students of Ramgarhia Girls College, scintillating Bhangra by PCPC Folk Artists and Polish folk Dances by Polish Folk Artists.
The Polish Group attired in colourful, traditional Polska costumes ignited the souls of the audience present, by putting up dances from various regions of Poland including dances from Beskidy mountains, Krakowie dance from Krakow, Silesian dances and Polonaise folk dances.
Polish Dancers and students had come from University of Life Sciences, University of Environment, the Agricultural University and other University centres of Wroclaw & Warsawa, Poland. They were accompanied by Photographer Mr. Jack from Poland as well. Polish artists impressed each and everyone when they performed Bhangra actions with PCPC artists on the stage, expressing solidarity with Punjabi folklore. The 'Multicultural-Bhangra' was the star attraction for the audience.
Polish artists exchanged folkloric souvenirs with PCPC Director Davinder Singh Chhina, College Committee Chairman Ranjodh Singh, Er. D.M. Singh, Mr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Balvinderpal Singh, Principal (Rtd.) G.S. Brara and others.
Paintings of Eminent Artist Satnam Singh Moga, Commemorating 300 years of Gurta-Gaddi Diwas were also released on this occasion. Director os Sikh History Research Board Dr. Anurag Singh presented a set of Sikh history books to Mr. Lomparte. Polish Artists were honoured with photos of Sahibzadas and other souvenirs by the organizers. Virasat Awards were conferred on Dr. Anurag Singh, Mr. Ranjodh Singh, S. Daljit Singh Grewal (Hockey), Bibi Sukhwinder Kaur Khalsa (Patiala), Eminent Artist Mr. Satnam Singh Moga and Int'l Bhangra stars from Canada Mr. Raminder Singh Gill and Mr. Pardeep Singh Gill (Winnipeg), by the PCPC.
Principal Jasbir Kaur welcomed the Polish Artists. Mr. Ranjodh Singh also honoured Polish Artists. Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur Sohal (State Award), Mr. Karanbir Singh Chhina ADTO & others were also honoured. Punjabi folk awards were presented to various folk personalities. Mr. Rajpal Singh Raju, Mr. Channy Sandhu, Mr. Jaspreet Mohan Singh, Lecturer Surjit Singh Hambran, Ropan Bajwa, Mr. Vikram Thakur Mr. Talwinder Singh Khalsa, Jasprit Singh Bablu, Gurprit Singh Manu, Sh. Bansi Lal, S. Baldev Singh Bajwa and others were present on this occasion. The Chairman of organizing committee Mr. Rajinder Singh Sohal announced that more such international festival would be organized in Punjab in Nov.- Dec. 2008.
