The fine work of the EcoSikh organization (which also lead a campaign to plant gardens of trees in honor of the 550th incarnation remembrance of Guru Nanak) established a new Sikh holiday:
Guru Gobind Singh Ji clearly states that both love and respect should be at the foundation of every relationship. The 16th Hukam reads, "Istri da mooh nahi fitkaarnaa" – do not subject your wife to cursing or verbal abuse.
Thankfully each year things have gotten better and better (gods grace).

With each scholarly effort, such as Home of the Beloved, the once unfamiliar faith takes another leap forward towards greater understanding about the unifying spirit of the Sikh faith.
From matters of faith, I don't intend to learn how to make a living but I surely do wish to know how to make a life.

However, a few scholars did realize that if Gurbani merely meant to regurgitate what was already in the existing religious texts, then what was the real need of Guru's spending years of work to compose Gurbani?

Sikhs have always gone out of our way to help those who we don't know or have any prior connection with. It is very heartening to think that we might also receive support (and hopefully at some point a full investigation from the UN) when authorities abuse their power over us.
