Nihal Yatra, an organisation with a mission to revive Sikh heritage through purposeful travel, launched today, receiving the blessings of respected granthis in an auspicious event. With a heartfelt vision to “keep Sikhi alive” in the minds and hearts of all who journey, Nihal Yatra was inaugurated on the auspicious day of Prakash purab of Sri Guru Ramdas ji. Showered with prayers and blessings from Head Granthi Giani Baldev Singh at Gurdwara Nanak Piao Sahib, Head Granthi Giani Dilbagh Singh at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Head Granthi Giani Sandeep Singh at Gurdwara Mata Sundari Ji, Head Granthi Giani Rajinder Singh at Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib, and Ex-Head Granthi Giani Joginder Singh, also from Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib, Nihal Yatra was launched to inspire a lifelong transformation in people’s lives. The launch took place at Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib, which is a revered historical site in Delhi, marking the place where Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara cremated the body of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, honouring his ultimate sacrifice for religious freedom.
Inspired by the Guru’s message that “He alone is blessed with liberation, who is imbued with the love of the One Lord,” (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 277), Nihal Yatra seeks to deepen Sikh devotees’ connections to their history, origins, and Guru Sahib’s eternal teachings. Each yatra (pilgrimage) is carefully designed to inspire the sangat to live in remembrance of Waheguru, embracing the values of humility, sacrifice, and resilience that are the pillars of Sikhism.
Nihal Yatra offers a series of culturally immersive and spiritually enriching journeys designed to honour Sikh history, traditions, and key religious events, with routes that span historic Gurdwaras across India. Among the standout packages is the Chaar Sahibzaade Yatra, an unprecedented tribute to the profound sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s four sons, who achieved martyrdom for their unwavering faith and courage in December—an especially significant month for the Sikh community. This yatra is meticulously planned to honour the legacy of the Chaar Sahibzaade, making it the first of its kind in its comprehensive homage to their sacrifices.
The Bandi Chorr Yatra, celebrating Guru Hargobind Ji’s release of 52 kings from imprisonment, has also seen an enthusiastic response, symbolising liberation and resilience. Likewise, November’s Dukh Bhajan Yatra continues to resonate strongly with the community as a journey dedicated to seeking spiritual solace and healing. Each of these yatras has drawn full bookings and overwhelming support, highlighting the community’s commitment to preserving and celebrating Sikh heritage with reverence and devotion.
Nihal Yatra was founded by Prabhmeet Singh, Agam Talwar, Tajinder Kaur and Amitoj Singh with a profound commitment to offering Sikh pilgrims a way to reconnect with their faith on a deeper, more personal level. Driven by Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of unity, compassion, and humility, Nihal Yatra is dedicated to creating meaningful journeys that not only provide spiritual enrichment but also enhance each traveller’s understanding of Sikh history, values, and identity. These experiences are curated to inspire a renewed sense of devotion, guiding pilgrims to walk in the spirit of courage, humility, and service that lies at the heart of Sikhism.
Each journey by Nihal Yatra is meticulously crafted to relieve travellers of logistical concerns, with comfortable travel arrangements, thoughtful accommodations, and carefully planned meals. This allows pilgrims to focus fully on their spiritual growth and immersion in the history of Sikhism, free from distractions and stresses. Through pilgrimages to historic Gurdwaras and places of great sacrifice, pilgrims gain a deeper understanding of the legacy and enduring values of Sikhi, allowing them to strengthen their faith through knowledge, reflection, and prayer.
