J.K. Rowling is a rags to riches story, a who woman rose from the middle class to becoming the most rich and famous author of all time. She experienced relative poverty before the published the first book in the Harry Potter series and then the rest was history. She became the world's first billionaire author.
And she has done a lot of charity with her wealth donating millions every year to different causes.
Today, May 13th, she tweeted about her donation to Khalsa Aid, which has an impressive history of helping disaster stricken people in times of need. Of course right now Khalsa Aid is focusing on the oxygen crisis in India from the Covid spike. Rowling thanked those who purchased her new book, 'Ickabog', in the tweet which was a response to Khalsa Aid who said, "Wow! We are delighted and humbled to have received a generous, six-figure donation from JK Rowling charitable trust..."
Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who bought a copy of The Ickabog. As a result, my charitable trust continues to be able to support those worst affected by the pandemic #COVIDIndia https://t.co/UZTEiqMfDZ

In this great time of need surely this money, along with the selfless work of gurdwaras, health care workers and volunteers of every kind, will save lives.
