The year 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the Sikh Genocide in India wherein hundreds of thousands of innocent Sikhs were massacred, raped, tortured and detained without trial.  These atrocities were committed by the government and its citizens…under the pretext of safeguarding political stability and out of revenge following the Indian Prime Minister’s assassination… and for the simple reason that “they were Sikhs.”

Sikhs and their friends from Georgia will assemble to commemorate the anniversary of the 1984 Sikh Genocide on this solemn evening, sharing the stories of survival and honoring the victims.

It will be an evening to…

  • strengthen the bonds of the community and testify to Sikh Resilience.
  • tell the perpetrators that We shall never forget.
  • tell the world that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
  • come together with the world community and pledge to stand for peace and justice for all.

We invite you to show your solidarity and respect in honor of the lives lost, and to stand with us in friendship, in prayer and in hope for a better world.

Program: Survivors’ Stories, Guest Speakers on History and Moving Forward, Movies about 1984 Genocide, Youth Speaks, Prayers for Peace, Art Gallery and more….

“If I can discuss apartheid in South Africa, why not the genocidal policies of the Indian government against its own people…Respectable authors have labeled the killing of Sikhs in India government inspired and organized, akin to the Nazi pogroms against the Jews. Tell the Jews worldwide that what happened to them in Nazi Germany is of no concern outside the borders of Germany. Tell the world that what happens  in the Middle East is irrelevant to the Jew or Arab living in America.” - Dr. I.J. Singh, New York University, Guest Speaker
