What started as a few private collectors showing their collections of artifacts quickly developed into a place for many Sikhs to tell their stories. The Canadian Sikh Heritage Museum is dedicated to advancing and promoting knowledge, understanding, and preservation of the cultural and religious life of Sikh people in Canada.
The Sikh Heritage Museum urges Sikhs to preserve their stories and the stories of their families so we can all share this knowledge. The more we share about our past struggles as Sikhs and what we’ve overcome the more we can empower others.
“We understand, Viskh Jiwan, meaning being a householder, as being someone that is just married, but the way we have understood Viskh Jiwan is being engaged in society. For us it has been important to show the community the many ways Sikhs have engaged .”
