Poet and artist Rupi Kaur on how she conquered Instagram with a photograph that challenged taboos around women’s bodies.
November 20, 2015: 23-year old Canadian poet and artist Rupi Kaur has garnered over 280,000 loyal followers on her Instagram for her work that deals with heartbreak, abuse, love and femininity. Her fan-base continues to grow after an eventful year — from shaking up social media with her photograph of menstrual blood to publishing her first book of poetry, milk and honey. CBC Arts caught up with Kaur in her home and at her packed book signing in Brampton, Ont. In this video, she speaks about why she does what she does, and how she conquered Instagram with a photograph that challenged taboos around women's bodies.
