Listening to a 'shalok' by Farid ji in gurudwara during my last visit. I learnt following:
(Slok Shek Farid, ang 1378)
See, Fareed, what has happened: your beard has become grey.
That which is coming is near, and the past is left far behind. Page 1378
Worry about future, forget past.
Live in the present, Do good deeds.
Give up annoyance & enmity. Be happy.
Give up time wasting business, its (habits), do important things,
control 'Maan' - the key to your body
Which (makes your body) run.
Success is granted….
Psychiatrist will tell you no better than that, if you visit him for depression or high stress, stress you created for yourself. He may take several sittings and charge you a lot, which adds to your worry for the payments, you added to your credit card.
Following shalok is next in que by Fareed ji. Which is very relevant and explains further.
12॥ (Slok Shek Farid, Ang 1378)
Fareed, those who did not enjoy their Spouse when their hair was black - hardly any of them enjoy Him when their hair turns grey. So be in love with the Lord, so that your color may ever be new.
In above simile (similarly) Guru ji is taking reference of black beard associated with youth & adaptability. He is reminding if one has not tried to learn & practice when one is young, you will not change-adapt when you are approaching older age.
By Learning to attach with creator=positivity, His virtues - positive attitude will help to negate negatives, we collect from negative people and negative thoughts.
Your mind will be Fresh/ evergreen=positive and body purified (clean).
Healthy mind lives in a healthy body.
The words of the 'Hukamnama'-'leading statement' delivered very clear message and explained for removing vices (source of pain, mental & physical) from our living.
I penned these words, so I may never forget.
Day's 'Hukamnama' gist is:
'Dharti'=Body (dirty pc. of land) use 'Naam'= Virtues/ soap, cleans interior of your body ('mann') Your body becomes temple.
Dhande karat + never finishes…Give up useless chores-habits which have no positive results,
Take care of body=get rid of Kroadh', Ahankar, (vices) which destroy relationships for life time. Learn from King Harnakash, it was his ego (Ahankar) at peak that he ordered his son to be killed. Storey behind the celebration of 'Holi' festival.
Kabir, Naam Dev & Dhanna: Note: not one but many have successfully followed this and have become happiest people.
Dharat Suhavi, make body evergreen i.e. be always happy, become full of compassion and service.
In our daily life, we also collect dirt in our minds by thinking of negativity and feel (helpless), sad, suicidal or depressed.
There is a relationship between mind & body, though mind leads body, but both do support each other.
In the gurdwara, Gurbani=lessons for great living and sangat=psychotherapy is free, pay attention.
Guru Granth teaches delightful living. (Good+happy) Good for today better for tomorrow.
Follow it, practice it
