Hargobind Singh braved the stage to express his vision for the world. His spoken word addresses discrimination and distortion of what the turban represents. Watch his video:

"Hi, my name's Hargobind and my peom's called 'Being a Young Sikh Boy':

Being a young Sikh boy, is it easy? No. Catching people's stares as if I glow.

Insults from adults, calling me Osama, I've dealth with this trauma.

'Randomly screened' and patted down on my way to Youngstown.

Trying to tell my story, not for the glory, but for the next one, so they don't shoot us with guns like the ones at Oak Creek.

Or like Mr. Dhaliwal, the revered police officer who had a vision, but I have a vision like the King.

I have a vision of a world where people ask me where I'm from and 'America' is satisfactory.

Currently that's unsatisfactory. People ask me, 'But where are you really from??' as if my answer should be different.

I have a vision of a world where 'turban' and 'terrorism' never go together, but rather a turban is love, strength, courage and service.

I have a vision of a world where differences are celebrated and not a reason to be discriminated against.

I have a vision of a world where people are brought back up, not torn back down.

This is my vision, this is my world.

Thank you."
