"Meditation is one process through which you can resolve conflict and misfortune, rather than playing it through in real life."

So what exactly is meditation? How do you do it? Well, actually meditation is like a mental "oil filter." Just as the oil filter in a car catches the dirt as the oil is circulating, so meditation catches your mental dirt so the subconscious mind is cleaned. This is how you become clear, neutral and joyful. It is an automatic process. If you don’t take a bath you start to stink. In the same way, without meditation this is how your mind gets, as the "mental dirt" piles up in your mind and effects your actions, words and whole being.

"Prayer is when the mind is one-pointed and man talks to Infinity. Meditation is when the mind becomes totally clean and receptive, and Infinity talks to the man."

"Each thought you get with the wink of an eye has to turn into a feeling, an emotion, and a desire. Then it becomes a neurosis, a psychosis. It’s a continuous process of the intellect. The intellect lives by it. The intellect keeps on bombarding thoughts and thoughts and thoughts and thoughts and thoughts, and millions of thoughts go into the subconscious, and then the subconscious becomes loaded. Then it unloads itself in dreams, in fantasies, in nightmares and, God, when it starts unloading into the unconscious, then you’ve had it."

"When meditating you will reach an experience where you will see all that garbage to start floating through the subconscious. Once you can develop that release, then you have something to clean. If subconscious only releases to you through the dreams and through the nightmares and through the daydreams, and through the imaginations and the speculations and through the projection, you don’t have a chance in your life to be you. "

"This mind is beyond Time and Space. It is part of the Universal Mind. It is given to you as an instrument to serve you. What happened? It became your master, you became the servant. The mind becomes a monster when it becomes your master. The mind is an angel when it is your servant. It is all in your mind. The meditative mind is a purely beautiful state of living."

Meditation: A Simple Process

"Meditation is a process. … At any time which is peaceful – the best is the early morning time, before the dawn – you’ll be surprised, that in a couple of minutes, a lot of thoughts will start coming to you – those thoughts which you do not want to touch – the X-rated thoughts, the ugly, angry thoughts, all those kinds of thoughts. If you let those thoughts pass by, this is meditation. All those thoughts that can pass at that moment of your life can never enter your subconscious mind, and they will not bother you again. This procedure of cleansing the mind, of not dumping a lot of thoughts into your subconscious mind, is called meditation.”

“It takes about three minutes to get those kind of thoughts. And sometimes they continue to bug you for about half an hour. But, if you physically don’t move, the mind becomes still. That is the foundation, or the beginning of the meditative mind. It is a purely physical process. Once your mind starts becoming still and not having any thoughts, you will feel cozy, and that coziness cannot be described even by me. All I can tell you is that it is very comfortable, it is very cozy, and you will want to do it again and again. But in the beginning you cannot do it for a long time. Gradually, as you develop that coziness, this thought-hitting process becomes shorter and shorter."

"Meditation is not what you do in the morning; that’s a practice.  Don’t  misunderstand:  meditation does not belong to people who meditate. I have seen people who have meditated for years and years, and when a confrontation comes, they are the only ones who go berserk and everybody else goes normal."

Meditation is not closing your eyes. Birds close their eyes; do they even meditate?  Huh? That’s not meditation."

The Effect of Reciting Gurbani and Mantra

Meditation can be done silently, but most of us don’t understand the power of simply reciting Gurbani as part of your meditation.

There are eighty-four meridian points on the upper palate of a human’s mouth. One can feel that upper palate with the tongue and experience its different surfaces. There are two rows of meridian points on the upper palate and on the gum behind the upper teeth. The tongue stimulates those meridian points, and they in turn stimulate the hypothalamus which makes the pineal gland radiate. When the pineal gland radiates, it creates an impulsation in the pituitary gland. When the pituitary gland gives impulsation, the entire glandular system secretes and a human being obtains bliss. This is the science.

Gurbani is the combination of the tongue with the meridian points. When you read and recite Gurbani, it stimulates your hypothalamus. It is totally different than any scriptures because Gurbani is made in a scientific way.

The whole language of Gurbani has the power to make a person divine simply by reciting it correctly. One need not be concerned with its meaning in order to experience a change in consciousness. Bani has to be understood by the heart, not by the head. There is no power in the head. It is in the heart. The head is for God and the heart is for you. That is why on that historic Baisakhi day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh asked for the head, and not for the heart. Whosoever lives with head to God and heart for self, that prayer is complete. The entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib is the calling of the lover for the Beloved. It is in naad.” – (read more)
