On a breezy and cool morning, a little over 250 runners and walkers of all ages came together for the 2022 Oneness 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 11th!
This year they celebrated the 5th annual run/walk, partnering for the first time with Chicago Voyagers, an organization that strives to empower at-risk and under privileged Chicago youth through outdoor experiences.
Over 25 youth and staff members of Chicago Voyagers participated in the event, for some it was their first ever 5K event!
Sponsors and Special Guests
From the stage setup, to the upbeat music, to the healthy snacks and beverages, the entire event, was sponsered by Gold Sponsors, Jesse Singh from Remax1, Pawa Trucking, Countryside Church and Grand Sponsors, UGM and Precision Stone Designs. Without the support and help of the sponsors and special guests and all the attendees the event would not be possible
The Chief Guest, Cook Country Commissioner for the 14th District of the Cook County Board, Mr. Scott Britton kicked off the race at 7:35AM. Mr. Britton brought all runners and walkers together and everyone took a pledge to unite against hate, to welcome all people, regardless of their background or identity, and to support tolerance and justice, The values that align with Oneness and unite us as ONE
Kiddie Dash!
One of the most popular events was of course the ´kiddie dash.´ Over 15 kids under the age 5 were eagerly lined up for their first ever and quite popular 50 meter Kiddie Dash! All kiddies received a goodie bag and a healthy snack bar.
What Oneness Means
The morning was concluded with a special activity asking the crowd, “What does Oneness Mean to You?” Runners and walkers were encouraged to share their answers on sticky notes. For some “Oneness” means 'acceptance and community’, while others shared that it means ‘love for all’. Participants were given small prizes for entering this raffle.
